Calorimetry — Q = mcΔT

Calorimetry measures heat transferred during a physical or chemical process. The heat (Q) absorbed or released equals the mass (m) × specific heat capacity (c) × change in temperature (ΔT). Different materials absorb heat at different rates — water has a very high specific heat (4.18 J/g·°C) compared to metals.
