Phylogenetic Trees

A phylogenetic tree (cladogram) shows evolutionary relationships. Branch points (nodes) represent common ancestors. Species at branch tips share descent. Closer branches = more recent common ancestor. In the population sim, random mutations cause organisms to diverge over generations, demonstrating how speciation occurs through accumulated differences.
