Glacial Processes

Glaciers form when snow accumulates faster than it melts (positive mass balance). They flow downhill under gravity, eroding bedrock through plucking and abrasion. Glaciers carve U-shaped valleys, create moraines, and transport massive boulders. When temperature rises or snowfall decreases, glaciers retreat, leaving behind characteristic landforms like cirques and fjords.
