Star Lifecycle

Stars begin in molecular clouds (nebulae). Gravity pulls gas into a protostar, then nuclear fusion ignites the main sequence phase. Low-mass stars (≤8 M☉) become red giantsplanetary nebulaewhite dwarfs. High-mass stars (>8 M☉) become supergiantssupernovaeneutron stars or black holes.
