Lesson 12.4: Volumes of Prisms and Cylinders

Key Concepts: Volumes of Prisms and Cylinders

Volume of a Prism

V = Bh

where B is the area of the base and h is the height.

Volume of a Cylinder

V = πr²h

Oblique Prisms and Cylinders

Cavalieri's Principle: If two solids have the same height and the same cross-sectional area at every level, they have the same volume. So oblique prisms/cylinders use the same formulas.
