Lesson 4.4: Proving Congruence: SSS, SAS
Key Concepts: Proving Congruence — SSS, SAS
SSS (Side-Side-Side) Postulate
If three sides of one Triangle are congruent to three sides of another Triangle, the triangles are congruent.
SAS (Side-Angle-Side) Postulate
If two sides and the included Angle of one Triangle are congruent to two sides and the included Angle of another Triangle, the triangles are congruent.
- The included Angle is the Angle formed between the two given sides.
Using SSS and SAS in Proofs
- Identify corresponding sides and angles from the given information.
- Look for shared sides (Reflexive Property) or Vertical Angles.
- Match three pairs: SSS or SAS.
- State the congruence, then use CPCTC for further conclusions.
